‘Tis the Season to Be Lovely: MAC Eyeshadow

This is the time of year to be more festive in both our demeanor AND our appearance.  Most people look to holiday wardrobe to spice up their looks and forget all about their most important accessory – the FACE.  Don’t do that.  That would be like wearing a Herve Leger with Crocs.  Very.  Very.  Bad.

With that, let me introduce you to my MAC eyeshadow palettes.  MAC eyeshadow is the best out there.  Super pigmented.  Amazing texture.  Endless longevity.  It is worth every penny.  I have hazel eyes, so find that a lot of colors work well with them (violets, greens and all neutrals).  The fun is certainly in the experimentation though!  I have labeled all the colors in my palette and honestly haven’t found one that I haven’t used / loved.

If you just want to test out MAC eyeshadow without the commitment (and price) of buying an entire palette, check out this super versatile eyeshadow duo in Mayhem.  The well-coordinated shades are great for blending but have that intense color that MAC is known for.  And the metallic colors are a perfect match for most holiday glam apparel.

Now that your face is perfection, it can’t hurt to top it off with a sparkly bow necklace.  Or even better, this lovely little sparkly Bow skirt.  Now you have the holiday spirit!

A tip that works 365 days a year. I find it mildly amusing that when people put on a sparkly sweater they think that nobody sees their face. I hope it never gets to a point in my life where I think people are talking to my cardigan and not me.

Those colors all look pretty, but the question for me is – how exactly do you apply the stuff?? All I can do is cover my eyelid with one color and that starts to get old. Which reminds me, could you do a blog one day on how to wear foundation/powder/other stuff to make your skin look even? I have never worn anything but think now might be the time to start and would love some advice…

I’ll do a post on this specifically for you with some good eye makeup “looks”. The eyelid as one color is something a lot of people make the mistake of doing… Very quick note, dab the lightest color (I use B and G from the palettes above) on your inner eye (right by the tear ducts) and right under your brow. Then you can apply a darker shade (I really like C M and E) all over the lid and a matte color (F or K) in the eye crease. I’ll include pictures in the post so you can see exactly what I am talking about. And the foundation post is 100% of its way… You have always been annoyingly lovely without a lick of makeup on. But I will gladly bring you to the dark side. ;-)

Thanks so much Mrs. AA!! Haha definitely not true abt looking good sans makeup. I just don’t know what I’m doing! Ok I am going to try that with eye shadow then. I liked your example colors too – that was helpful. When you do the eye shadow post can you explain what type of brush to use too? Thanks so much again – glad to learn from the best! Merry Christmas to you, Mr. AA, and Pickle!

  4. Thank you SO much Tracey! I am so glad you enjoy them!! Makes it all worthwhile…

We are SOOOO excited! We can’t believe that Mrs. AA is actually coming to our town AND we get to see her in person. But now the pressure is on. Will we embarrass ourselves by dressing badly, wearing flip flops with our party dresses or fawning over her and begging for autographs? At least the hair will not be at its absolute desperate worst now that we are using Mrs. AA’s recommended hair potion.
