Packing for Paradise

ring / sweater / pumps / packing cubes

Good news: I am feeling human today.  Bad news: I am terribly behind schedule when it comes to my packing for this upcoming vacation.  Thankfully, I own these incredible packing cubes from eBags that make what is usually a terribly painful process only slightly painful.

When Mr. A and I go on long vacations, he always insists on taking these huge duffel bags that (to be fair) fit a lot of stuff, but make my life miserable.  Somehow, he always ends up taking the larger of the two, which is completely against all rules of being a man, leaving me with the smallest.  When we travel with Pickle, I end up having the privilege of getting all of my belongings spread across all three of our bags.  It is beyond annoying.

After much investigation, I discovered these packing cubes.  Now I have individual bags for each category of item – one for tops, bottoms, socks, undies, and so on.  I liked mine so much that I ordered a complete set for Mr. A in a different color.  So even if my stuff gets spread into different bags, I can easily spot and recover my cubes without totally rearranging (and wrinkling) everything else in the bag.

I have also found that I don’t even bother unpacking the cubes totally when I arrive at my destination.  I just pull out the cube and stick in the dresser, which makes repacking a breeze.  I have decided to also bring an extra cube for all dirty items in order to keep them separate from any delicate or dry-clean only items on the way home.

I will never love the art of packing…  But at least now it is tolerable.  Here’s to spending this entire weekend elbow deep in luggage!  Hope yours is a bit more exciting!!

I just bought those packing cubes the other day….can’t wait for them to arrive!
    I love those shoes too!!

You will love them! I also have the shoe sleeves, which I think I might be most obsessed with (probably should have mentioned that above). I hate having my dirty soles rub all over my good clothes… Solved!! Happy Friday!

I ordered my cubes within seconds of reading this post. I can’t stand everyone’s clothes being co-mingled. I might actually be able to travel with the kids and one large suitcase instead of three small ones from now on! Life-changer as usual, Mrs. AA!!!! THANK YOU!

    • Mrs. AA says:

Yay! Glad I could help. I know I am overly dramatic about my white girl problems, but co-mingling of everything is really troublesome! You’ll have to let me know how you like them… xoxo!!

Awesome! I’m heading over to ebags now! I leave next month for Alaska for 2 weeks and have been fretting over how I am supposed to pack all this winter stuff without bringing 100 suitcases! I’m also taking your tip and getting some of those Go Toobs from The Container Store! Any other packing tips would be welcomed! I’m most concerned about all the boots I wanna bring! Haha!

How amazing! You are a lucky lady!! I suggest using your boots as “packing instruments”… If you use them to store socks or undies, then they don’t really take up as much room, right? ;-) Enjoy your adventure!!! And please share what you think of the Go Toobs and packing cubes… I hope you find them as useful as I have!

Can’t wait to try these out! Perfect for our next trip.

  5. I just bought 2 sets for my upcoming vacay. Thanks!

I meant to tell you I saw Go Toobs at Target, don’t know if they are a better price ??

    • Mrs. AA says:

I saw them too. They are the same price ($20) as Wal-Mart and $5 cheaper than at Amazon. SO yes, I would pick them up there if you want them!
