I’m Going (Going) Back (Back) to Cali (Cali): Our Digs

Soooo….  I just got back from Los Angeles and have spent several hours attempting to retrieve all of the images that I accidentally deleted from my memory card.  So you will have to forgive me if this post is rather image heavy and rather text light.  I am apparently rather light in the brain department these days.

Anyhow, I think I have most of the images (but none of the videos – sad face) recovered, so in the next two days I will take you to all of my favorite places in LA.  One is touristy, one is secret(y?) and one is just downright creepy.  But they all added up to a really nice weekend getaway for the family.

We checked into the W Westwood, which has kind of become “our” LA hotel, on Friday night.  It is a really great place for our family – hip enough for us not to feel totally lame and friendly enough for us not to feel out of place.

Pickle already making herself at home.  She insisted on sleeping in between Mr. A and I on the first night.  Which was just as romantic for us as you can imagine.

We got hooked up with an awesome suite that had a bedroom with a living room and den.  Loved it!  All of the rooms here are designed by Thom Filicia.  Yes, Queer Eye Thom Filicia.  How could it not be fabulous?

Here Pickle is avoiding eye contact because that welcome plate actually arrived with four chocolate-covered strawberries, not the sad single one that remains.

Did I forget to mention that I actually asked Pickle not to stand in front of me while I was taking pictures?  I obviously forgot the first lesson in parenting: Kids are the worst listeners.

Look at how diligently I set up my space to blog during my stay.  Given that this is my first real post of the week, you can all see how well that turned out.

Above is our room’s view of UCLA.  Mr. A and I met as grad students there…  According to me, we met for the first time at the W’s bar.  According to him, we met the next evening at my birthday party.  To be fair, I am the one with the drinking problem, not him.  So I very well could have met Samuel L. Jackson that evening and confused him for my husband.  It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.  Oh wait, yes it would.

Our view looking out over Westwood…  Are you bored yet?  Too bad.  I have more pictures.

Another shot of Westwood.  Great, now even I am bored.  Will that stop me from subjecting you to yet another shot of Westwood?  Nope.

But I’ll leave you with a lovely sunset so hopefully you will forgive me.  Hope that your week has been as perfect as this Los Angeles sunset.  Kisses!

By the way, did I mention earlier… Happy 2012 and happy Chinese New Year!

Happy New Years (both) to you as well!!! xoxo.

Well it looks like you had a good time. While I am not a huge fan of LA, but it looks like Harper enjoys the W.

    • Mrs. AA says:

We did! LA is a great place to visit… I realize that I appreciate all the nice things about it a lot more than when I live there and have to battle traffic!!!

Re: Pickle in “strawberry” pic, she’s not looking at you cuz there’s no dog to blame! Ha, but I notice she left the champagne alone!
BTW, what’s so great about Westwood? Aside from being the place you met Mr. A? I have a feeling more pics are to follow…….

    • Mrs. AA says:

Sadly, we left the champagne alone as well. There was never any chance to sit down and enjoy it together!! Yes, a few things I love about Westwood will be posted tomorrow. It is not the most exciting part of town, but a great college atmosphere, which I really enjoy (obviously, given where I live right now!!!).

( just meant I’ve never spent any time there). Except for one trip to buy a UCLA t-shirt in the 80′s, it was pink and white and fabulous…

  6. Your daughter is adorable and that hotel looks incredible. Love the way you sign your post with a kiss!

Awww thanks! You know the way to my heart!! ;-)
And that kiss is really my kiss… I try to put my heart out there for everyone, so might as well seal it with the real deal. Thanks for reading!!!
